What can we customize?
- Type of items: We specialize in silk loungewear, lingerie, beddings and accessories, but our tailors have decades of experience creating custom dresses, pants, tops and jackets as well.
- Fabric: We usually work with silk, which is a challenging fabric to work with. If you have a favourite fabric such as cotton, linen or wool, we can work with those too.
- Colours and patterns: We have a colour book featuring 90+ colours in silk. If you are looking for a solid colour that is not in our colour book, or a specific pattern, feel free to message us at info@softstrokessilk.com and we’ll do a search for you.
Do I need to use your design, or can I send you my design?
- You can either adjust elements based on our designs (example: replace a sleeveless design with cap sleeves) or send us your designs. We have helped thousands of customers create items based on their own design, from replicating an old lace slip dress their grandmother wore for her wedding, to creating a pair of silk-wrapped volleyball pads for a fashion show. Bring it on!
- Note: Changing designs or sending us your own designs may incur additional charges.
I’m allergic to synthetic fabric or spandex. Could you make a set without these?
- Pure silk doesn’t include any synthetic materials.
- The hook-and-clasp set we use on our bralettes is synthetic. To avoid that, we can make bralettes with front opening using stainless steel clip-on buttons, bralettes with bands that you can tie in the back, bralettes with silk-wrapped buttons (like blouse buttons) or pull-on bralettes.
- We can replace synthetic threads with cotton threads.
- Our elastics are completely wrapped in silk. However, with an extra charge, we can replace spandex elastic with natural rubber elastic.
How long does it take to ship a custom order?
- Custom orders usually take 4-6 weeks to ship. Custom silk scarves take 6-8 weeks to ship. If you need them urgently, we may be able to expedite the production process with an additional fee. Please message us at info@softstrokessilk.com.
How do I place a custom order?
- If you are placing a custom order using our design, simply add the item to cart. The difference between our ready-to-ship items and custom items: custom items have “custom” in the product name. Then put your colour choice (the last few images in the custom product listing are our colour books) and measurements in the comments box when checking out.
- If you are making additional changes to the item, including changing the style, looking for a colour that is not in our colour book, using a different fabric, please message us at info@softstrokessilk.com and we will build a custom listing for you to purchase.
Can I return or exchange my custom order?
- Custom orders cannot be exchanged or returned. However, if there is an issue with your order, please message us at info@softstrokessilk.com. If we made a mistake (example: you ordered black and we sent white), we can re-make the item for you.
